Jane, 53, had struggled with her weight since childhood. In our sessions we gently uncovered what lay behind her difficulties, which had translated through her teenage years and into adulthood. Jane was given a set of tools she could use to help her to accept her relationship with her past, and thus in turn was able to reframe the future and see things differently.
Jane said …”I felt spoiled. Lisa was interested in ME. She listened carefully and was non-judgemental about what I said, She asked the appropriate questions and challenged my feelings and beliefs in a friendly, non-threatening manner. She came across as passionate about her desire to help me. She made me feel at ease. My self worth increased. I was taught several techniques to break down the beliefs and habits that were limiting my self-respect”.
How we take care of ourselves through nutrition and exercise is often a reflection of many things, whether it’s our emotional history, or, how we struggle with putting ourselves ahead of others – to prioritise ourselves. But it is important to remember, just like when you’re on a plane and told to put your oxygen masks on first before trying to help others, we must sometimes prioritise our own health in order to be strong fit and well enough to manage our other commitments.
